The History of Pennylane Taxitrucks
After graduating from SUNY Brockport I found a job at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising and an apartment in Astoria, Queens. My first job in advertising at a blue chip agency was not paying blue chip wages therefore I needed extra money to pay the rent. I sold t-shirts on the street during the Statue of Liberty celebration and eventually earned enough to by a Van. I started doing moving jobs in the go-go 80's with a used telephone truck and advertising in the Village Voice. Business was brisk at first because there was a real estate boom. To take the stress out of working in advertising I started jogging and then running Marathons (2 in NY and one in London). I eventually earned enough money to take a trip to London to run in the London Marathon. When I was there I saw ads for Man With Van and also TaxiTrucks which I thought was a good way of describing the Man With Van Service. The Man with Van business eventually crashed with the stock market however I have held on to my Vans as a way of earning extra cash, getting exercise and meeting a lot of interesting people. I am on my third van now and have a wealth of experience and many stories to tell. Craigslist has helped me actually revive the business and one of these days I might actually earn a living from it.

Despite my own poor planning, this was the quickest and smoothest move I could have hoped for, largely due to Andrew's efforts. He was punctual and friendly, even in hot weather and crawling traffic. His moving experience showed with his incredible skills and speed packing his cargo van--I didn't think he could possibly fit it all, but he did. He has elevated moving to not only a science, but an art. Andrew has everything you want in a mover--I won't hesitate to use him again, and I am already recommending him to all my friends.
